When Lisa Tepes, beloved wife of Vlad Tepes AKA Dracula is acused of witchcraft and burned at the stake by an overzealous bishop, Dracula declares war on the people of Wallachia and unleashes an army of murderous demonic creatures from hell. Luckily, Trevor Belmont, last survivor of the Belmont clan, a disgraced family known for hunting all kinds of monsters, is still in town and agrees to take the fight to the lord of vampires. A vampire hunter fights to save a besieged city from an army of otherworldly creatures controlled by Dracula. First off, while reading a number of reviews I was really disappointed by numerous people preaching that this show is just anti-Christian propaganda. I read these reviews after watching all four episodes and couldn't disagree more.<br/><br/>The church in the medieval era was not the same organization it is now. Nowadays the church does a lot of good. Then, It was terrible. The show also never states that god doesn't exist or that Satan holds dominion over god in any way. In fact holy water burns demons and Dracula(not Satan) is the villain. And when he's accused of being the devil, he tells people that he isn't, but he can summon demons. So……..it's not anti-Christian. It merely portrays the medieval church in a negative way, and honestly, to portray the church then in any other way would be incorrect.<br/><br/>And with that out of the way, let's start off with what I liked. First off, Dracula is a great villain. He's great because as bad as what he does is, you can't, due to an integral first episode, not sympathize with him. He has every right to be furious, confused, and loathe the human race. Also, the main character is really good too. He's not an overly heroic figure, and isn't a saint. However, in just four episodes his character really progresses and it's cool to watch.<br/><br/>Also the townspeople really act correctly for their situation. They're terrified, finger pointing, and mislead. The townspeople and their actions really add another layer of depth, character description, and pain to many of the shows main characters.<br/><br/>And lastly, the action. It's amazing. It's bloody, gritty, and grotesque. Everything action from a series like this should be, and it's not overused. <br/><br/>All in all, I loved this show and can't wait to see more. Yes, not everyone will like it. No, it's not for kids. But it's a damn good show, and if you like action, give it a try. I'm almost certain you'll enjoy it. The first episode seemed to be extremely fast paced, but its was for a good reason. i think this is really worth the watch. I'm loving this right now.This is Netflix "anime" done right. Japan could use something as good as this right now.
